The other day I was having a fight with my elder sister about watching UFC News on TV. She tries to assume the role of mom at any opportunity and we have major fights over getting the remote. I wonder that a budding computer science engineer like her still holds puritanical and conservative views about games, and what’s worse, she tries to preach those ideas in to my head. That day we were both shouting at the top of our voices when dad returned from his evening walk. Usually he has a soft side for my sister but he surprised me that day by supporting MMA.

He explained to my sister that it is not a blood crazy death match as some detractor’s peach. Had it been so, the MMA clubs did not impose the playing restrictions on the players. She still refused to see reason and said the game is yet to be accepted as a major game by most nations. That is when I pointed out many previous boxers are switching to it and they are not doing it for nothing. Being outwitted by my logic, she resigned from arguing. I have asked her to go through the site http://www.mmaonline.com. Hope she does so!

The slogan for the Olympic Games being held at Beijing in the year 2008 is ‘One World One Dream’. Once you are there in Beijing, you will be able to get a feel of the ancient oriental civilization of that place. One of the most brilliant places where you can probably host the great Olympic Games could be located here. This place is located in Beijing city on its central axis and is called ‘The Forbidden City’. Beijing is said to house around 200 scenic spots, many of the historical sites around the world and about 7300 cultural relics. All of these differ from each other by their unique style. A spirit of modernity and a charm of antiquity is what this city is said to have.

Traveling in Beijing is quite simple. One can take the city’s light rails, subways or the buses. With a schedule of the games in your hand and these transport systems, it makes it easier to get to the arenas or the stadiums on time. Extremely safe and efficient are the rails and the buses. Taxis are referred to as ‘Da Di’ in Beijing. These are quite cheap and also available all day long. As the Olympic Games are in town, the municipality has taken initiatives to bring in obstacle-free buses, bathrooms, bus stops, slopes and blind roads across the city. In case you are accompanying the disabled or blind, your reservation seats can be marked for the Olympic tickets. You will be receiving a copy of an obstacle-free guide on information service of Paralympics Games and the Olympics.

The temperature is roughly about 25C in august and September in Beijing. Proper clothes that can suit the conditions can be brought if you had planned on your trip. Hot and dry is what it is during the day and it cools down by night fall. Sun protecting products are a must. Sun glasses will also help.

On your Olympics tour to Beijing in 2008, make sure you bring all convertible plugs and any other gadgets you will need. These will safe you from being uncomfortable. The power you get there is 220V. Do make sure you are carrying the right kind equipment that is, players and cassette recorders as the TV system there is the PAL system.

The hotel services are reasonably good. They provide you with bath towels, sanitary articles, toiletries and slippers. Book a hotel that suits you the best. The internet can be accessed through the internet bars which are inexpensive. However, you will need your passport or your ID to enter into one of these. Certain internet pubs also let you take your laptop and make use of their wireless connection which is readily available. To help those who are visiting the city and make it easier for them, the three star hotels normally have internet accessing sockets.

You can make use of all these facilities and have a great time in Beijing.

SNOW BOARDS AND SNOW BOARD BINDINGS

SNOW BOARDS AND SNOW BOARD BINDINGS

Snow boarding as sport has been in vogue since a long time. Before purchasing any kind of snowboarding gear you must set a budget and research through buyers’ guides and reviews to see what’s available. If you can afford only piece of the kit then it is best to purchase the boots fist as the size of the board will depend on the boots. Boots tend to pack down, so it is important to buy boots that are snug.

Boots can be soft or hard. Soft boots are versatile and comfortable. They are preferred by most of the riders who like the freedom of the deep stuff. Hard boots give better precision and control and are used for alpine boarding or racing. Women’s boots are specifically designed because they have narrower feet and lower calves than men.

The snowboarding binding attaches the snowboard boots to the snowboard. Depending on the riding style one can choose from a variety of bindings. When purchasing the binding it is important to take the shoes along to see that the fit is absolutely right.

Different snowboarding boots work with different snowboarding bindings. Most flexible are the soft boots and strap on or flow-in bindings. Any soft snowboarding boots can be used with this binding. It provides maximum flexibility and maneuverability.

While using soft/hard step-in boots one requires step-in boots to go along with the step-in bindings. The boots and bindings need to have the same step in systems so that it becomes easy to get on and off the board. Normally there are only a few alternatives available for step in systems. There are a few cheaper varieties available but they do not offer sufficient board control. The most direct and solid control of the snowboarding is provided with hard boots and plate/lever bindings.

Choose the board that best suits you. It should depend on the type of board you do most of the time and go for a board in that range. Your height and weight should also be taken into consideration. In general, taller heavier men and freeriders take longer boards than freestylers and smaller, lighter men and women. Freeriders favor a wider board for increased stability and flotation. However, as wider boards tend to be much slower edge to edge, many riders prefer a narrower board. The more experienced riders are able to cope with stiffer boards. Boards should not be chosen merely for their funky graphics.

Burtons snowboarding gear focuses on sizing their snowboard to match a persons weight and height with components that offer the same flex and responsive feel found on larger snowboards. Burtons snowboarding gear is specially designed with vertical sandwich durability which extends the range of rider weights without diminishing the fun all-mountain characteristics. This board won’t go flat after a couple of seasons.

Details of various sizes of Burton snowboards can be had from their websites. One can also have a view of snowboard videos, pro snowboarders, snow and snowboard pictures.
