Looking for Last Minute Caterers

Entertainment and Fun, Life No Comments »

I was helping a good friend of mine get ready for their wedding and things were going really smoothly.  We had everything lined up including the hall, church, food, and entertainment.  We were congratulating ourselves on the ease of organizing a wedding when the phone rang.

The caterer called to cancel.

With only a couple of days before the wedding, we went online to see if we could find “wedding caterers Sydney“.  We sent out emails to all of them in hopes that one would be able to cater the wedding at the last minute.

Just a day before the wedding, one of them got back to us and they were able to cater the wedding.  Sure the food was nothing fancy, but all 300 guests had something to eat.  Though it ended up that the price per plate was higher because of the last minute, the rest of the wedding went without any problems.  Thank goodness.

The Kids First Fringe

Our city holds an annual Fringe Festival every year and it is one of the things about summer that I look forward to most. I am such a fan of the artists and I find all of the acts to be very entertaining. I decided this summer, that it was time I let my young children experience their very first Fringe Festival and things could not have gone better.

I was a little bit concerned, at first, as there is a lot of things to do and see that are meant for people a lot more mature than my six and eight year old children. But, I worried for nothing, as they seemed to fit in. They had a great time and the entertainers were very good to them.

They especially liked to watch the fire jugglers and stiltwalkers. What I loved is that these people took the time to talk to my kids and make them feel special and important. I will definitely be taking them again next year. I don’t think that they will give me much of a choice, as they are eagerly anticipating it already.

Going to a Cabaret

Entertainment and Fun, Life No Comments »

Just one week ago today, it was announced that there would be a cabaret here in town on Friday.  They would be showcasing five local bands and it was going to be an all ages show.  I know some of the bands that were on the list of performers, and I know that they just rock!

So, I thought that I would pickup some event tickets and check it out.  I thought that I would buy a ticket for my cousin who is sixteen and he could come too.  He loved the idea and is pumped to go to the cabaret.

All we have to do now is figure out some way to get there.  My car broke down, and he doesn’t drive so, we are going to have to be creative when it comes to transportation.  I suppose as a last resort, I could ask my parents - but I am just too embarrassed to be seen with them.  I would feel like I was twelve again.

A Born Reader

I am one of those people who cannot put a good book down. I love to read, but don’t do very much of it anymore. The reason for this is that when I get into a good novel, I tend to neglect my children. I cannot put a good book down and so, if I get into one, my kids end up with peanut butter and jelly for supper. I tend now to get a little bit more into short stories because it does not take long to read them.

I absolutely love the writing of J. K. Rowling and have read every single one of the books in her series in a single day. I am sure that the kids will be glad to know that the series is complete and that there will be no more pb and j for supper. But then, they never really seemed to mind that. I think I just felt guilty. They never complained.

I wish I was the type of person who could pick up a novel and just read a chapter or two and then turn out the light to go to sleep. I know the danger of that, though. Reading before bed causes me to be up until five in the morning finishing the entire thing. Maybe it would help if I started reading dull books.

Discount concert tickets

Discount concert tickets

Concerts aren’t cheap these days, and entertainment is expensive.  Saving money usually means having to let go of time-saving luxuries – but everyone has their limits, and everyone needs a chance to get away and get foot-loose and fancy-free. Finding you and your girlfriend some cheap concert tickets, and the boys some cheap sports tickets, might be the ticket to saving your sanity.

Concerts are still cool, although they’ve changed a lot over the years. Many venues prohibit smoking and drinking, and all over the world security is increasingly enhanced.  Some concerts are much more subdued today than they were yesterday. But they are a great opportunity for you and the girls to have a flashback to the good ‘ol days, or show just how cool you are by going to a live performance by the hottest new singers.

Before you call the girls, finish the dishes and go online and start searching for “cheap discount concert tickets.” If you want to be nice to your honey, do another search for “cheap discount sports tickets” and a host of online discount ticket brokers will show up in the search results.

There are a few things you have to look for so you don’t get ripped off.  First, make sure you can use a secure method of payment.  I love Ebay, but if you buy tickets off Ebay or any other auction house, you have a far greater chance of ending up with forged or stolen tickets. The same goes for scalpers. Don’t buy from scalpers. If you’re in jail, you can’t go to the concert. And if your honey is at his favorite sporting event,  he won’t be able to bail you out. Of course, if he’s in jail there might be less dirty socks scattered throughout the house. But you probably would rather have the dirty socks.  Make sure the discount concert or sporting event tickets you get come with a 100% guarantee.

Discount Concert tickets and cheap sports tickets shouldn’t be hard to find. There are millions of ticket brokers, and they often have specials, discounts, and price reductions based on the date and time of the event.  Fridays might be full price, but since it’s impossible to get a babysitter Friday night, you might not mind the discount they give for Tuesdays.

If you have good binoculars and you’re not afraid of heights, there’s always a discount for certain seats.  If you’re sitting in the back of a stadium with a rotating stage, the view might not be so bad. If you don’t mind driving and your car get good gas mileage, check out the venue where the event is held.  Often one stadium, auditorium, theater or arena might be cheaper than another nearby.  Many websites hold specials and offer coupons worth a decent percentage off the regular price of tickets just to get visitors to their website. You know how to shop smart.  Give yourself a break and shop smart for yourself.

Discount Concert tickets and cheap sports tickets are the way to go if you are in desperate need of an escape from daily struggles.  Take the time to do a smart search. Type the words “cheap tickets” and give the girls a call.  It’s time for a girls’ night out, and there’s no time like the present, after the dishes are done of course!
