When your dog does not like its crate and becomes upset when placed in the crate, this will not work if the dog is forced to reside in it. If your dog shows any symbols of a departure anxiety do not make efforts to calm up the animal, which can only augment the depression or the anxiety of the animal. You should try to motivate the dog for tranquil behaviours rather than awarding the dog when it is disturbed.
Make your dog learn behaviours that will assist them to shed their fears. Teach the dog to occupy a place and hold on to it and suitably reward it when the dog follows your instructions.
For all those pet owners who are working on a daily basis and need to leave their worried dogs home you can make sure that a pet sitter is hired for taking care of the dog in your absence. If one is not able to arrange for a pet sitter, a Dog day care centre with all the necessary facilities is the best available option for a dog owner.
Some dogs are less perturbed when they are able to see the exteriors of a building if their owner is not present. Seeing their owner can lessen the fears of a dog and they can cope with the separation trauma. Place the crate of a dog adjoining to a window sill that will give it an opportunity to see what activities are happening in the house yard or where the owner is moving on the street.
Do not use the method of punishment to the dog as a cure option if it does not want to stay in the crate for a long period of time. When you have to desolate your dog and are aware of the fact that it will become distraught, try to reduce as much amount of the nervousness as you can by coaxing the dog.
