A Gift for My Mother
Gifts, Shopping April 4th, 2008For those of you out there that know my mother there’s one thing that she does that bugs me. She will never get rid of a partially broken item as long as it still sort of works. A good example of this would be her potato fork that has two tines that are broken that she will not replace.
I try to make a point of replacing any half broken items that I find in her house. I bought her new spoons, new cookie sheets, and even a new toaster oven. She always asks me why I bother replacing her "perfectly good" stuff with something new instead of being thankful for what she does have. No matter what answer I give her, she always just rolls her eyes at me.
Last time I was at her house, I made sure to check the gardening tools to make sure that none of them needed to be replaced. As it turns out, I am going to buy her a new shovel and a new lawnmower(it seems to be missing a wheel). I’ll give them to her as a gift for her birthday. That way, she won’t be able to say no.
